In order to have a working tracks, some files are needed. Tracks that are being worked on shall ONLY be in your personal folder. The installation folder (default: C:\Program Files (x86)\Mx Simulator\) does not have write permission, so all updates will end up in your personal folder.


Required Files

billboards

Holds information about billboards around the track.

decals

Contains information about the decals placed on the track.

lighting

Controls whether lighting is dynamic or not. Position of the sun, colors, skybox and fog.

shading.ppm

Auto generated shading.

shadingx2.ppm

Auto generated shading.

statues

Contains all information about statues and statue collisions.

terrain.hf

Controls what dimensions of terrain.png, shading.ppm and shadingx2.ppm is used, size scale, highest and lowest point on the terrain. Proper file specific explanation can be found here.

terrain.png

The heightmap itself. This image file needs to be 2^n+1 in px. Normally this is 1025x1025px or 2049x2049px.

tileinfo

Controls traction, roost and erode.

tilemap

Contains the tilemap paint.

timing_gates

Information about starting gates, timing gates as well as how which timing gates indicates the first lap. Also what indicates a normal lap.


Optional Files

desc

Recommended file! The content of this file will be the in-game track name. If this file doesn't exists, the folder will be the in-game name.

edinfo

Gradients used in the editor are saved in this file.

flaggers

This file contains the information about the starting guy, finish guy and flaggers around the track.

lines_

The files lines_novice, lines_intermediate and lines_expert are racing lines for the robots at different difficulties.

shadows.pgm

This file adds shadows to the game. It needs to be of .pgm type and same dimensions as the terrain.hf file.

track.pov

This file is generated by pressing 'p' in the editor. It's used to generate shadows in POVray.
